AR Senator proposes tax to assist Forestry Commission

Senator Bill Sample of District 14 filed Senate Bill 5 on Monday, January 14, 2013 that would provide additional funds for the Arkansas Forestry Commission. In February 2012 the commission’s director resigned due to a $4 million shortfall and the commission was forced to lay off 34 employees (15 were later reinstated). The A.S.E.A. will provide more information on the impact of this bill on the state and state employees.
