Salary savings fund proposed by state representative

State Representative Fred Love of District 29 filed House Bill 1028 on Wednesday, January 16th that would create a salary-savings fund for future cost-of-living adjustments. As stated in the bill, “if a regular salary position funded by general revenue in whole or in part that is budgeted but not occupied during any portion of a quarter period” that the agency leadership “shall certify to the Chief Fiscal Officer of the State the total amount of general revenue budgeted for each regular salary position for the time the position was not occupied minus the amount of any general revenue budgeted for an unfilled position for the purposes of the state contribution for health insurance.” (Any funds unused for unfilled positions during a quarter within a fiscal year will go into a salary savings fund.) This bill pertains to state agencies, commissions, higher education institutions and boards.
