EBD presents options for equalizing plans

EBD Director, Bob Alexander reported yesterday, to the State and Public School Life and Health Insurance Task Force, two scenarios for equalizing the ASE and PSE health insurance plans. The first would be to bring PSE to ASE level which would require approximately $59 million in additional funding. The second would be to reduce funding for ASE that would save the state $39 million and would reduce premiums for PSE by 22%, however; this would increase ASE premiums by 33% or approximately $35. The next task force meeting is September 18th. Please know that no action will take place at this time; these meetings are for the purpose of fact-finding. We will keep you posted as we receive more information.
