ASEA Executive Director, Danny James gave testimony on behalf of state employees during the State and Public Employee Health and Life Insurance Program Legislative Task Force meeting in Hot Springs on Tuesday.
He stated that ASEA cannot support recommendations that would negatively impact health insurance coverage for state employees especially if the $59 million required to equalize the plans—is not guaranteed. Task Force members Senator Jason Rapert (Faulkner & Perry Counties) and Senator Linda Chesterfield (Pulaski County) voiced concerns regarding the plan and funding options presented by EBD. Rapert and Chesterfield expressed the need to see quotes from additional insurance vendors. Stakeholders for public school employees showed support for merging the plans.
Thanks to state employees (active and retired) who attended the meeting to support their more than 27,000 colleagues!
The next meeting will be held in November after the General Election.
