ASEA founder passes away at 92

The ASEA family is sad to share that our founder and first executive director, L.D. Owen ld owenpassed away on Friday at the age of 92. L.D. began the Association in 1967 with a small group of state employees who met to discuss concerns about the state retirement system. It’s amazing to think that an Association of more than 16,000 members began in the trunk of L.D.’s Plymouth!

He devoted his life to serve state employees of Arkansas until his retirement in 1992. He was a fierce lobbyist for state employees; participating in the passing of the group health/life insurance plan and the Uniform Leave and Attendance Act, and encouraging an increase in employer health insurance contribution. For his dedication to State of Arkansas employees, we say thank you L.D. Owen!

Services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Russellville.
